The Tulikivi has been completed...and even test fired a few times. It's a spectacular piece of craftsmanship.

Interesting notes:
· The installers have a tradition of placing a quarter of the year the fireplace was installed in the top of the fireplace under the main stones. Some family friends gave us the 2005 Minnesota state quarter, which was placed in the fireplace the 27th of April.

· The stone was very cold. The previous day the temporary heat was disconnected and cold weather moved in (nice how they coincide, eh?). Two large loads of wood (after the initial seasoning fires) heated the stone to a hot to the touch temperature. It took almost 12 hours to cool down to room temperature.
